I’ve been very busy with virtual and live events as of late, but I’ve also been giving a great deal of readings these days. My booking calendar has been booked up for months, and even though it translates to me being very busy, I’m grateful. The work that I do, (it doesn’t even feel like “work”) I am just so grateful for it. I can’t believe I get to do this, really… I am blessed.
It is certainly one of the biggest blessings in my life when I hear from folks often that I’ve had a profound impact on them in some way. It’s either in the way they interpret their past, how they are processing their present, or how they approach the future… I am beyond humbled and grateful when I hear these sorts of things.
When a client expresses gratitude to me, it’s an intense energy that runs through my whole body. Of course, it’s wonderful and very special. As I meditate on this this morning, what comes to me right now is that, my gratitude for all of this mirrors the gratitude I have for God/Source.
I feel that most people who believe in, practice, or enjoy getting mediumship readings think of it as a compelling energy force that occurs between medium and sitter (sitter is the traditional term used in the mediumship world for client). I recall speaking with a client about this just yesterday. This is not the formula. A Spirit connection is not energy between medium and client. This is a THREE-WAY CONNECTION.

A successful Spirit connection always, always, always occurs at the will of Source (or God; the Higher Power). Over the years, I’ve taught virtual and in-person intuitive/mediumship development classes, and this is something I always preach to my students. Another powerful [but all-too-true] sentiment is that God is behind “the driver’s wheel.” God allows for this connection to occur as it takes place at his will.
This is why, if you have ever been to any sort of mediumship class or development circle, the teacher always discusses and promotes having some sort of ritualized routine before you connect to Spirit. This is so that you can not only clear your energy from Spirit, but it is also to ground yourself and to allow God to sanction these links to the Spirit world.
One time a few years ago, I formally acknowledged how much of a role that God played in my own connection to Spirit. At that particular moment I experienced, I believe, the truest form of gratitude (in response to when I pick up on the gratitude from clients). Whenever they give me thanks, I try to show God thanks. I might say “thank you” out loud; maybe I’ll do this- start journaling. I always try to demonstrate an essence of gratitude from God, when I experience it coming to me from my own clients.
I’ve mentioned this in other blog posts too, actually, but it really is like experiencing the perpetual cycle of gratitude. But that is actually a good thing! Most people have an instinctive understanding of what gratitude is, but when you actually think over it, gratitude itself may be a little bit tricky to define! I mean, think about it! Is it an emotion? A virtue? A behavior? Indeed, gratitude can mean different things to different people in different contexts and situations. Nevertheless, I’ve come to realize that gratitude is in fact a two-step process: 1) “recognizing that one has obtained a positive outcome” and 2) “recognizing that there is an external source for this positive outcome.”
Source (or God, perhaps the All-Knowing One; how ever you choose to refer to Source) is always at the crux of every single positive outcome that occurs for us as living beings. We can most certainly be grateful to each other, just like I experience after I read for someone. Yes, that’s definitely true gratitude and for that I always feel so excited and touched. But at the end of the day, the real gratitude goes to God, as without the divine energetic “touch-down” the connection would not have been able to occur in the first place.
Always acknowledge that every single thing in this life, happens at the will of Source.
