Right now, we Americans, all of us, need to make the collective effort to prepare ourselves for doom’s day-like circumstances. Several years ago, I became scared when I found out that North Korea had been carrying out large-scale testing with ballistic missiles. Despite being in-touch with my own intuitive abilities, I still experienced feelings of shock and panic. It certainly prompted me to take at least some kind of preparatory action. One might have suspected that I’d given in to an unhinged dictator’s threats, but I still felt that the possibility of a global catastrophe was worth the consideration. I think it is only prudent that all families in the United States come together to formulate a plan in the event of a large-scale disaster. I mean this in general terms. The events in North Korea had reminded me of this notion.

I think it is crucial to remember that, if possible, we need to know when/where/how we would commune with our families and/or close loved ones in the event of an impending emergency. We all need to conceive of some sort of plan. Is there a central location with a basement where everybody could meet?
Personally, I live in a condo near immediate family, and there is no basement here. However, there is a rather large church nearby where I suspect we could take shelter should a considerable nuclear threat loom. Moreover, according to much of the research I’ve done online, the other vital notion that I’ve thought of is a good-sized emergency kit. We should all have some sort of large backpack or duffel bag filled with the appropriate provisions. It is not rocket science – the old stand-by items are sufficient. Candles, lighters/matches (safely packaged), flashlights, canned & dried food, various batteries, blankets & pillows, battery-powered radios, GPS/compass [if possible], OTC analgesics/proper first-aid supplies (like dressings), etc. are invaluable in my opinion. Kits designed to furnish for 3-5 days, with multi-decade shelf lives, are certainly worth investing in.
The bottom line here is: BE PREPARED…really! I heard very wise words recently… Even though we can’t predict a disaster, we can prepare. Disasters can’t.
