My mother would often joke that I came out of her womb holding a pen. I have loved writing ever since I was a boy. It didn’t matter what I was writing about, I just remember being about seven years old, documenting my feelings in the moment, or recording the events of my day. I would say that I’ve just always been a very introspective person.
I loved even the physical act of writing. I can also attest to the fact that maintaining or private diary or journey was (and is) extremely beneficial when it comes to continued growth and expressiveness. When I wrote, I was in-charge of my own private world. Within the space of that paper, I could share my feelings towards people or places, vent about my current frustrations, chronicle my aspirations, and so on. When it comes to the act of writing, I view it as a sacred practice that surely enhances your spiritual journey, as well.
No matter what, everyone in today’s high-stress world could benefit from writing in a diary. Thanks to social media, most people today are not afraid to display their unique opinions. Thanks to social media, we are also exposed to varying schools of thought when it comes to ourselves, pop culture, the political climate, etc. Nevertheless, thankfully, journaling is all about you. You can write what you want to write about, and you will never be expected to justify your thought processes.

If you want to try journaling as a part of your spiritual practice, here are a few writing prompts to help you get started:
For self-discovery
What do I really love about my life?

For daily check-In

For spiritual guidance

These journal prompts are very helpful. Engaging in this practice makes the act of journaling more approachable. I do believe that it’s why they’ve become more popular; they’re effective. And it’s a great mental workout, to answer open-ended questions where you’re forced to reflect and look more deeply within yourself.
Are you looking for an outlet? If you care to share your answers to these prompts, you are more than welcome to email me. I’d love to share in your journey!
